Cancellations at Atonement Lutheran Church due to COVID-19

Dear Members, Fellow Worshippers and Group Leaders,

The safety, health and wellness of our church members and wider community are our top priority. As we continue to closely follow the developments related to COVID-19, we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure everyone’s wellbeing.

Bishop Suarez sent a letter to area churches regarding the outbreak on Friday, March 13. With that, most large gatherings at Atonement have been postponed or canceled until further notice. Please see below for additional details:

  • All events scheduled for today, Saturday March 14, have been canceled.

  • Beginning Sunday, March 15, services will be live-streamed at Services will be recorded for delayed viewing as well.

  • Sunday Service at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

  • Wednesday Lenten Service at 7 p.m.

  • The church office will remain open on weekdays from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please call rather than coming in person, if possible. (813) 973-2211.

  • The Spring Bazaar has been postponed. A new date will be announced soon.

The Food Pantry will continue distributing emergency foods on Wednesdays. We have worked closely with the Food Pantry Board to establish additional procedures with this in mind. Three automatic hand sanitizer stations will be installed this week; two in the main church building and one in Friendship Hall.

New Entrance Policy: Anyone who enters the church building will be asked to use the main entrance only and use hand sanitizer upon entering until further notice. Group leaders must also inform their door monitors and members of this procedure as well.

Please continue following recommendations from the CDC and Florida Dept. of Health including hand washing, social distancing and staying home if you are ill. If you or anyone in your household is diagnosed with COVID-19, we ask that you please let us know so we can follow the appropriate CDC and DOH guidelines.

We are closely monitoring for any new developments and will reevaluate our plans and procedures as necessary. Please be on the lookout for updates from us and don’t hesitate to reach out to the office if you have any questions or concerns or if you need assistance. (813) 973-2211. Again, the safety, health and wellness of our church members and wider community are our top priority, and we are here to support you however we can.

Our hope and prayer is for you and your family to stay safe and healthy.
