WE:LCA's Guardian ad Litem project was a success, thanks to all of you who donated gift cards for teens in the program. Jan Gerle reports that 65 gift cards (Visa, Target, & Walmart) were donated for a total of $1625. She said it was a great campaign!!
The cards will be distributed through Hero to a Child for foster teens in Pasco County.
The Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is a partnership of trained advocates appointed by the court to represent children in foster care that have been removed from their home because of abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Our Jan Gerle is a Guardian ad Litem and chaired this year's project. Thank you, Jan!
Reminder: the Reverse Advent Calendar project is ongoing through this Advent season. Reverse advent calendars allow you to donate or give something each day – thus giving instead of getting. This year’s Reverse Advent Calendar recipient will be the Thomas Promise Foundation, 4542 Gall Blvd Zephyrhills. The Thomas Promise Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing weekend bags filled with six meals and snacks to food-insecure children in Pasco County Florida schools. Each week, these essential bags are delivered to 1,500 children. The suggestion is donate $1 a day for the days of Advent beginning December 1st and ending Christmas Day. A box for the donations is available in Friendship Hall. Or, donations can be mailed to the church. Please consider participating in this Thomas Promise project.
