WELCA 'Doings'

A huge thank you to all who made the Reformation Dinner a success! Lots of work, but so appreciated by those who attended. The cooks, including Bill Morris who did the pork loins on his grill, FANTASTIC job!! Delicious from all the cuddos we received from those who attended!
Report: $870 taken in; that's $870 to the Al & Bea Bidwell Memorial Scholarship Fund. Last year: $750 was taken in. The scholarship fund benefits our high school graduates in recognition of their outstanding scholastic achievements as well as their dedication to their community through service hours and service to Atonement as they prepare to further their education. The students are awarded $1000 scholarships through this fund. Every $10 ticket benefits our graduates.....thanks to what Thrivent does as well as all of the ladies' food/cooking donations! What a bargain!
The first big event in the new building had its challenges but was so appreciated by the attendees. Thank you, Salli & Michael, for resurrecting the round tables. Attendees appreciated the round tables when you could converse with everyone at your table.

The Baby Shower, under the direction of Jean Jakes, Saturday morning went well and was most appreciated by the new mothers and the mothers-to-be. We had 8 recipients. Interestingly, Isabelle, one of the Rez House helpers, told us she'd been a recipient 11 years ago. She was there helping & translating......with her 11-year old daughter. Thank you, Alice & Linda, for helping.....and bailing me out with your cells when mine acted up!

Trunk or Treat: Carla Haberland, representing Helping Hands, & I, representing WELCA, did our usual games with the help of Lynn, food pantry volunteer, & Pat and Paul Weil. Fun times!
